Acuity Law rolls out data compliance venture in Middle East

Commercial law firm Acuity Law has signed a joint venture with a specialist fintech consultancy based in Dubai to roll out its data compliance solution in the MENA region.

Launched in May 2018 to coincide with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the UK, Acuity DataGuard is a complete solution for data privacy and GDPR compliance. It starts with a comprehensive online audit tailored to the size and structure of the organisation to assess the data that is collected and how it is used. Having identified any compliance gaps, solutions are designed to define forward-looking data governance operating models.

The Dubai consultancy will adopt the existing technology platform and, alongside Acuity, modify it for compliance with local data protection laws for its multi-country market across the region.

Rem Noormohamed, partner and head of technology at Acuity, said: “We are seeing a growing interest in the MENA region for compliance tools around data governance since the GDPR came into effect across the EU. Given the successful relationships we have built with several firms operating in the GCC, we were approached about this collaborative venture, as well as other partnerships around cryptoassets and blockchain regulation.”
