Ben specialises in acquisitions and disposals of commercial property and development.

He has played a pivotal role in some of the highest profile property transactions in the department, in particular, when acting alongside other team members for Hadston Southwark Limited on its development of the former Southwark Fire station, and on various aspects of the Rightacres developments at Central Square. His involvement in these transactions saw him promoted to senior associate in December 2018.

  • Part of the team advising a developer on all aspects of the £50m acquisition and development of a Zone 1 London site, to be developed as an innovative new secondary school for 1150 pupils plus residential apartment and commercial space
  • Part of the team advising a seller on its disposal of a portfolio of properties primarily to national house builders. The contracts include complex provisions dealing with calculation of net developable acreage, development obligations, overage and the interaction with adjoining development sites
  • Advising a developer on the acquisition, development, letting and sale of drive-thru coffee shops
  • Advising the seller on the £15m sale of its leasehold interest of a 78,000 sq. ft. landmark office in Leeds city centre. Property was subject to a lease to HMRC and transactions structured as a transfer of going concern
  • Part of the team advising Rightacres Property Co. Limited in respect of the ongoing redevelopment of Central Square, Cardiff
  • Advising a developer on its acquisition, development, letting and £15m sale of a 58,000 sq. ft. Central Cardiff office development. In order to facilitate the sale and satisfy funder requirements the deal included negotiating and documenting the release of historic restrictive covenants burdening the site
  • Advising a seller on the £5m sale of its freehold central Cardiff property for a student residential development which will be one of the tallest buildings in Wales
  • Advised Business Systems (U.K) Limited and its shareholders in connection with an investment by private equity house August Equity
  • Advised long-standing client Brickability Group plc on their acquisitions of McCann Limited and Bathroom Barn Limited, both closing in the space of one week
